The Volvo Environment Prize laureate Professor Rashid Sumaila, received his award at a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov 29, 2017. The award, a glass sculpture, a handmade diploma and a check of 1,5 million SEK, was presented to him by Martin Lundstedt, President of the Volvo Group and Isabella Lövin, Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Climate.

250 specially invited guests from the business community, academia, public sector and politics participated in the ceremony and gala dinner. A specially made film about Rashid Sumaila’s research “The Oceans Are Our Lives” was shown. There was also a panel discussion on the future of the oceans and how companies work with sustainability. The evening ended with music, entertainment and dancing.
