Previous appointments include:August Röhss Chair in Physical Geography at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, director of the Gothenburg Atmospheric Science Center, Science Director of the Beijing Climate Center, and Executive Director of the International Council for Science (ICSU) in Paris, France. He was also a lead author in Working Group 1 of the IPCC’s fifth and sixth assessment reports, and serves as an editor of several international scientific journals.
