The Volvo Environment Prize laureate professor Xuemei Bai, received her award at a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov 28, 2018. The award, a glass sculpture, a handmade diploma and a check of 1,5 million SEK, was presented to her by Martin Lundstedt, President of the Volvo Group and Chairman of the Volvo Environment Prize Foundation.
Several hundred specially invited guests from the business community, academia, public sector and politics participated in the ceremony and gala dinner. A specially made film about Xuemei Bai’s research “The Urbanized Planet and the Quest for Sustainability” was shown. There was also a panel discussion on how to achieve sustainability in the rapidly growing urban areas. Participants were professor Xuemei Bai, Alice Charles, World Economic Forum, Martin Lundstedt, Volvo Group and professor Johan Rockström. The evening ended with music, entertainment and dancing.
