Previous appointments include:August Röhss Chair in Physical Geography at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, director of the Gothenburg Atmospheric Science Center, Science Director of the Beijing Climate Center, and Executive Director of the International Council for Science (ICSU) in Paris, France. He also served as a Lead Author for Working Group I of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report and as a Coordinating Lead Author for Working Group I of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.
